Upcoming Events for Foodies in Valencia

Valencian cuisine is a prime example of the Mediterranean diet. Full of delicious and healthy recipes and based around fresh fish, seafood, rice,  fruit, and vegetables, it is sure not to disappoint! Although «paella» (the famous rice dish that’s from Valencia) is the main dish people usually associate with Valencian cuisine, the Valencian region has so much more to offer. Here are some of the main culinary events going on in 2020!

Artisanal Sausage Sampler Festival in the town of Requena

From February 7th to 9th,  the town of Requena celebrates the Artisanal Sausage Festival with lots of stands offering high-quality sausages. The gastronomic delights of the festival will be accompanied by an abundant choice of excellent local wines. 

 

Valencia Culinary Festival

From February 24th to March 8th, for the fourth year running, the best Valencian chefs, sommeliers and traditional producers will offer their culinary delights to the public. There will be 18 restaurants taking part in the event. The festival will also feature gatherings, tastings, and culinary workshops, as well as gastronomic films at the Convent of El Carmen. The culmination of the festival will be a Gastronomic Night at the Veles e Vents building in the Marina of Valencia on March 1st. Guaranteed to be a great event for both food and beautiful locations!

 

The Fair of Craft Beer in Gandia

From February 28th to March 1st, Gandia will host the Craft Beer Fair. It will bring lots of local producers of family-owned as well as small breweries from the region offering craft beers with exclusive tastes. 

 

The Black Truffle Tasting

On February 22nd and 23rd, the town of Culla (in Castellón) will host the 17th edition of the Black Truffle Tasting (La Mostra de la Trufa Negra). It is an unforgettable event for lovers of the vegetable known as the “black gold of gastronomy”, which is held every year in a different municipality of the Valencian region.

The event brings together truffle growers, companies linked to the sector, hoteliers, and people fond of the black truffle and dishes made from it . Over three days, visitors can see a truffle dogs contest, tastings of black truffles, truffle-related presentations, and cooking demonstrations presented by distinguished professionals.
