Top 5 Beaches in Valencia

Are you coming to Valencia soon and wondering which beach to visit?

Make sure you get out and explore the many beaches to choose from while you are here! Each and every beach has its own unique charm, and they are all accessible by public transport. We’ve put together a list of 5 of the most popular and beautiful beaches in and around the city of Valencia so you never get bored. Check out these beaches and take your pick, or visit them all!

La Malvarrosa

The easiest to access from the city center, Playa Malvarrosa is by far the most popular (and crowded) beach. However, since it’s so large there is usually plenty of space. Located right next to the Marina with palm trees lining the promenade, there are several restaurants located in front as well as smaller kiosks for drinks, as well as different options for beach and water sports.

La Patacona

Playa Patacona has become increasingly popular in the past few years. Located a little further down the coast from Malvarrosa, there are a variety of restaurants to choose from, many of them having a front patio with sea views and also a back garden terrace. Patacona is famous for the numerous ‘chiringuitos’ or beach bars (actually in the sand!) spaced out on the beach. Especially crowded in the evenings, these are great place to enjoy cocktails, smoothies, sandwiches and appetizers.

El Saler

Located on the opposite side of the Port from Malvarrosa, the beach of El Saler is more wild than the other beaches. You’ll find sand dunes here as well as a lagoon and National Park, Albufera. El Saler is also much less touristy than the rest of the beaches.

Further down the coast past La Patacona you’ll find Portsaplaya. Known as “Little Venice”, Portsaplaya is a residential area inside the Marina. Filled with colorful homes lining the water, the canals are filled with boats. Outside the residential area there is also a beach, a little smaller and less crowded than Malvarrosa.

Even past Portsaplaya (although visible from the other beaches) and in another town altogether we come to Sagunto. Sagunto is an old Roman town located about 45 minutes north of Valencia by train, perfect for a day trip. Along with a beautiful beach, you can also visit the Roman amphitheatre and main square of the town.
